Bio
Self Portrait, 2022
My fascination with form, light and movement began in my earliest childhood years. I continued to pursue ways to express my personal vision of these elements through high school, college and beyond. I studied 3-dimensional design at the University of Georgia, printmaking, photography and drawing at the Atlanta College of Art and later, graphic design at the Portfolio Center for Art and Design. After graduating from Portfolio Center, I worked as a freelance designer. Also, during this time, I wrote Painted Treasures, (1992), for the Meredith Corporation, which is a collection of unique painted finishes with guided project instructions. I was asked to supply several chapters for Meredith’s “Best Of” collections over the next few years. During that time, I began working for a small publishing company as the production manager. There I learned many valuable aspects of making art and text print ready and how to create for and work with printers.
Thirty years after graduating from Portfolio Center, I returned to Southern New Hampshire University with the aim of updating my graphic design portfolio to assure that my skills were on par with industry standards, as they have changed dramatically. During the required digital photography class, I fell hard for digital photography and changed direction. Digital Photography gives me the format to weave my love of design elements and principles into this wonderful medium. All the study of form, line, value, color theory, vanishing points, positive and negative space, balance, and light come together in every image. My lifetime of experimentation and expression culminate in the art of digital photography.
